We have much going on in our great city, and I am excited to share this quick update on Ward 3 business and other exciting news.
Tolleson Pool Replacement – Coming Spring 2027
Update: Construction is Underway! Contractors are working throughout the site, and the project is following the timeline for delivery to the city next Spring.

Downtown Redevelopment Committee – Concept Approved by Mayor and Council
(9-acre downtown site)
Over 13,000 residents engaged in the downtown redevelopment planning process and participated in various ways that drove the final concept adopted by the Mayor and Council. We are proud of the historic resident engagement and look forward to the next steps. The crucial information garnered from public engagement yielded general use, such as the upcoming Jonquil Mile, Chapel restoration, Chapel Green, downtown parking, infrastructure upgrades – all have culminated in a grand plan for Smyrna’s future!
For more information, please visit the City website. We have posted and will continue to post information as the effort moves forward.
Background: The Downtown Redevelopment Advisory Committee held its first meeting in May 2025. We anticipate a master plan RFP going live by year end; at that time, we anticipate much interest from the development community. More to come!

Progress Throughout Smyrna
Traffic Calming/Traffic Calming Committee
The Traffic Calming Committee is expected to meet next in May, with the committee and city staff continuing to make significant progress citywide on traffic calming measures. We have completed the original target list and are now working on requests that have come directly from residents throughout the city. We have completed over 55+ locations and calming measures. If you have a concern in your neighborhood, please reach out!
Coming soon: Hawthorne Avenue Pedestrian Railroad Crossing
CSX has accepted the proposed plan, and City Council has approved the first of its kind pedestrian railroad crossing in Smyrna. The crossing will provide for safer passage through the area, with a dedicated sidewalk and gates. This location was chosen for the upgrade because of its connectivity with Campbell High School and Smyrna Elementary. Coming soon!
Belmont Infrastructure Project (Pierce, Adams, Belmont areas)
Planning is underway to install storm water infrastructure, curbing and sidewalks on Pierce Avenue, Davis Drive, Belmont Avenue, and Adams Drive. Initial designs should be to city officials in the coming weeks; the next step will be funding the project. Most of the area was annexed into the city by the Georgia Legislature in 2023.
