Tenth Edition: Summer 2025
Ward 3 Update
I hope this update finds you well and enjoying what has been a busy summer.
We have much going on in our great city, and I am excited to share this quick update on Ward 3 business.
So far, the highlight this summer has been welcoming an American Icon, the Budweiser Clydesdales, to the City of Smyrna.
Tolleson Pool Replacement – Coming Spring 2027
Update: Work continues to clear the site of the old pool and prepare the site for the new world class aquatic facility.
The City Public Works Department has demolished the 57-year-old pool to make way for our new city pool.
We anticipate more information, including the timeline and new design, in the coming months. You may follow updates on the pool replacement on the city website. We are excited about what is to come!
Downtown Redevelopment Committee (9-acre downtown site)
The next public engagement meeting to be held on Monday, August 18th @ 5:30 pm. Please plan to attend, as the public engagement meetings have been most helpful!
Background: The Church Redevelopment Advisory Committee held its first meeting in May. The multiyear process is officially underway, and we anticipate the selection on a master plan designer before the end of summer. Public engagement will begin this fall and run for a year.
Mayor Norton called for the creation of a taskforce of residents to start the process of determining the best use for the redevelopment of the current First Baptist Church site. First Baptist Church has voted to sell their current campus and move to a new location and building on Atlanta Road near the Reed House. The City of Smyrna will purchase the current campus and work to redevelop the site.
